Computer to 50 in. plasma is it worth video card upgrade?

50 in panny plasma, i have read that plasma does not make best monitor, tv has rgb, but i would be willing to install video card with hdmi if it was worth it, comp. is gatewaygt5432 with 3 gigs of ram.|||Yes, i think its worth it!

i have mine connected to a 42 inch plasma and looks good. If its a 1080P you should get very good picture, and even if it isnt, it saves a lot of time, hassle by connecting straight to tv..

Something like this for $20 after rebate should be more than enough to playback anything, and its got HDMI output.

good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.|||Computer output to a big screen HD TV is Beautiful!

The problem with plasma is the possibility of screen burn-in. That's the main reason why. I had my rig briefly connected to a plasma and it was awesome.

Plasma is more prone to burned in images than LCD or DLP. The burn-in is caused by images that remain static on the screen for a very long time. If you look at your desktop for hours, your task bar, icons and wallpaper can leave ghost images on the screen.

If you play a game, any health bars or character status information that is always on may do the same thing.

Newer plasmas have features that try to eliminate the burn-in, but it can still happen. It is most likely to happen to new screen though. Turn the brightness down as far as you can to help prevent it. Turn on any burn-in prevention features, and run any burn-in image removers available in the TV menu.

Aside from that, use an LCD instead. But it looks really great!|||If you view all sorts of media on your computer, why not bring it to the big screen? Here is a bit more info from Microsoft on TV tuner cards if you decide to connect your PC to your TV for reasons other than just as an additional monitor: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/windows…

Cheers,

Jeff

Windows Outreach Team|||plasma has reflect screen, also generate more heats and radius than lcd, which mean will hurt your vision more than lcd in close range. get a lcd not plasma if you wanted to use for pc.
