Running a Video card that requires 500W power supply, only have 380W supply?

My question is, my computer only has a 380W power supply. Is using a Video Card that requires 500W of power going to be a bad idea? I haven't installed it yet.

Will my card even run?

And if it does, will this hurt any equipment of mine?

Using a duel core processor, if that matters.|||nah that doesnt matter im using a 250 watt power supply minimum requires 500 Watts and it still works lol so no not really if you think you need that much then go for it :}|||What video card is this? What 380W power supply do you have (ideally find the current specification for the 12 volt line on its label). And what else do you have in the computer?

If you exceed the rating of your power supply, your computer may fail to boot. You may damage the power supply over time. It's also possible (particularly with low-end power supplies) to damage other components, but that's not common.|||You can try, but there's a good chance it will get fried. Dell, in particular, is known for being conservative in the specs for psu wattage, so if you have one it may be ok. On the other hand, if the psu can supply enough voltage on the 12V rail hooked up to your graphics card, you may be alright. don't recommend it, though.|||Yes it will run but for 10 minutes max and you will suddenly hear a blow up inside a CPU. You will be left with smoke everywhere and your eyes staring at your black monitor. Your first priority will be to call the Fire Dept if the smoke increases

Ha ! That means You cannot USE 500W Card in 380W powersupply. However, you can get a powersupply for $70-$80 in TigerDirect.|||Running a 500W power supply with 380W can damage the system. I would recommend buying a 500W power supply. Chances are if you run your video card with 380W power supply, it might suck out all the power from the motherboard causing your computer to turn off .|||the card might run but it might damage it or you other computer parts by running all of them at a lower power than they need, I really recommend not installing the videoo card just yet and get a 750 watt power supply for the computer.|||YEAH it will start up but your system will crash when you do something graphics intensive, then you will probably burn up your power supply and maybe take out your cpu or video card or motherboard|||I think u should not even try. Ive heard some people tried it before and their power supply blew up. You should try to get a 600 - 700 watts PSU.
