How do install a new video card?

help i can't install my new video card. my moms bf gave me a new video card because i left my computer on and my old video card broke. i got the new and tried to install it but i put it in and started it up and it won't work.i don't have the cd or manuel and i can't go to the display settings to help make it work. what should i do?|||Did you insert the graphics card in the same slot as your old one? And if so, were the slot designs different looking? Very possible you were given a graphics card that has a different card slot than your old one and if you swapped them out and this was the case, then you very possibly fried your motherboard, or processor. Very carefully take apart the computer and remove the new video card and examine it against the slot you put it in. If the designs do not match up PERFECTLY I'm sorry to say you just fried your comp. If they are the same, then get your moms bf to help you. considering that is, that he actually knows computer stuff.|||1. Uninstall your old video card's driver.

2. Turn off your computer and disconnect it from power. Remove old video card.

3. Install new card and turn on. Then install drivers.

4. Restart.
