I have an extra LCD just collecting dust and i thought i could put it to good use w/o spending money on a new video card.
Will this blow my processor to bits or can this be done?|||Great question.
But the answer is, "No, sorry".
Most laptops will support the built-in display plus another monitor.
But a desk top or tower machine will not support this unless your video card has two outputs or, in some cases, you can add a second video card to your machine. Best option is to check into buying a dual monitor card. You could get a KVM switch for less than $50 US, but this will only show the same monitor display on multiple monitors.
Good Luck!
I hope this helps!
Troy Downing|||If your video card has a second port, then yes, you can. Otherwise, I don't think so.|||You can get a VGA splitter, but that will only send mirror signals to each monitor. To actually extend your desktop to another monitor, you need a card that supports it, or two cards.|||You can do it via USB so long as you don't want great quality, check out http://gadgets.softpedia.com/news/Use-US…
A dual port graphics card is the best way forward and it works well and this type of card is very common.|||Like most people already mentioned, it all depends on what video card you have. If you have a video card with 2 ports, then yes it can be done, as long as you have the most up-to-date driver and software.
