Can i run games without an expensive video card??

ok i bought a gaming pc online for 300 it runs nice has everything needed to game ram ghtz 150gb hardrive ok the only thing is it fails at the video card. my question is to run a game do you need a good quality video card?|||depends on the game



If you want to run the latest titles, then the simple answer is, yes, you need to spend money on a video card. however this can be done very cheaply, with places like tigerdirect currently selling 8800gt's for only $110.



If you are playing older games, then, depending on the graphics chipset on the machine and the age of the games, you can still have a great time as long as the games were published at some stage prior to the time the machine was sold new. I have a laptop next to me that runs older games fine and has a crappy geforce 420 with 32meg vram. The kids have a great time on it.



really depends on what you want to play and whats in the machine you have. If its a reasonable on-board chipset and you are happy with older titles then no need to spend the money. If you want to run stuff like crysis then you will need to shell out some bucks and no way around that. |||this means you can either "update" the display driver that you currently have or you might need to buy a new display drive and install.



But it can save you money if you have a video card installed in the computer and is really bad you need to install a driver from the websites.

so what ever drive you have updated it |||i have the nvidia gforce 7600 and it runs almost everygame theier is... i think i payed 80$ for it at newegg.com|||Short answer yes. However you can play some games with details and some of the bells and whistles turned down. and at a lower resolution.

nividia is good|||most new games you do, ive run into this problem myself, and my motherboard wont support current video cards|||nooooooooooo!

you spend $100-500 on a stupid card and its out of date in a month.



the XFX 8600 xxx 256mb ddr3 rocks and i got it for $69!! i can run BF2 on it with ALL high settings.



if you spend over $100..in my opinion youre just a gamer want to be. anyone can spend $400 on a card



but it takes a true gamer to spend the time to find a deal|||buy like a 8600 gt or something with 512mb, because most newer games will require some waht decent vide cards, and a 300 dollar gaming pc won't have it|||depends on tha game
